About John Boulderstone
“I have always known that the closer I am physically to another person, the more clearly I can sense something of what is going on with them. This is especially noticeable when someone is stuck and struggling to solve a problem. If they cannot find a way forward, if their thinking becomes agitated, or if they try to move away from the difficulty, I can feel something of that struggle.
Perhaps that was one reason I became a maths teacher. Difficulties in mathematics are usually resolvable. The task is often to help someone move forward when they are stuck, keep them engaged when they want to escape, and stay alongside them when their thinking becomes unsettled.
In my therapeutic work, I found that the same principles seemed to apply in a different way. By staying closely engaged with the person, using physical contact and bringing my own attention to what I can feel, I follow the tension or disturbance until it changes and eventually settles.
Over many years, this way of working developed into what I now call the Boulderstone Technique.”
John originated the Boulderstone Technique in 1996. His most recent book, The Still Point and the Dance, was published in 2024 and describes the development of the technique, the idea of the still point, and the way he understands the healing process.
About Katharine Boulderstone
“I am still amazed on a daily basis what this technique can do for people with all kinds of conditions. We hugely underestimate the power we have to heal ourselves when the restrictions to the flow of vitality are removed. TBT is the best technique I have found for resolving most physical and mental health conditions. For me it brings together the best of my past experience in homeopathic philosophy, re-evaluation counselling and energy work, resulting in a powerful combination that is more than the sum of its parts and is still evolving after all these years.”
In The Clear
In The Clear is a small clinic in Tunbridge Wells.
We try to keep the atmosphere quiet, straightforward and unhurried. Many of the people who come to see us are already dealing with stress, fatigue, pain or overwhelm, so we do not want the appointment itself to feel pressured.
Sessions are usually one-to-one, and there is time at the beginning to explain what is happening and at the end to allow things to settle.
The aim is to provide a calm setting in which the work can be done without unnecessary distraction.

Another comic-book about the still point and how the clinic came into existence. Free from the clinic.
John has also written articles and scientific papers exploring aspects of the work in greater depth.
